Join The Greenlining Institute for Our Fair Share: Designing Impactful Community Benefit Agreements, a solutions-oriented workshop that will lead participants to understand the approaches for building collective power and organizing for more equitable developments that serve to benefit the local communities they impact. During this interactive educational workshop, attendees will have the opportunity to engage in collaboratively navigating the process of designing a CBA that incorporates a community’s needs throughout a development project.

Despite the political upheaval at the federal level, addressing the racial wealth gap is key to building an economic system that benefits everyone. One way we can advocate for fair access to benefits is through Community Benefit Agreements (CBAs)–contracts negotiated between community members, banks, and developers. The Greenlining Institute has helped negotiate over $800 billion through CBAs, and continues to work in coalition with communities of color to negotiate mutually-beneficial agreements. CBAs can be applied to a wide range of projects from public transportation and affordable housing, to clean energy infrastructure and new stadium developments. While they are not a universal solution, CBAs can hold financial and industry stakeholders accountable to equitable development and community reinvestment.
