Welcome to Just Communities AP

The Just Communities Accredited Practitioner (AP) program is a continuing education and learning platform to support community leaders, city officials, and planning, design, and development professionals committed to using the Just Communities framework and promoting PSE’s mission.

PSE is deeply committed to ensuring that the AP program is accessible to a diverse number of stakeholders, especially frontline resident leaders and practitioners of color who have been marginalized in a white-dominated planning, design, and development professions.

The goal of the AP program is to diversify and expand the number of people in positions to influence and drive planning and investments in their communities. The AP program also helps support the growth of the Just Growth certification program by building a community of practitioners who can support communities with implementation and verification.

What You’ll Learn

Participants who complete the AP Foundations course and exam will have a strong understanding of the following issues:

  • Principles of Just Communities and why we center racial and environmental justice in community development.
  • Core elements of Just Communities Protocol including Pillars, Commitments, and Actions.
  • Core Just Communities concepts including demographic analysis, asset mapping, visioning, collaborative governance, target setting, and strategic planning.
  • Prepared to take the Just Communities AP Exam.
  • Prepared to support communities seeking to become Just Communities Certified.
  • How to get involved in the Just Communities community.
