Centering Community and Ecological Regeneration in Development
Published June 16, 2021
A conversation with Anyeley Hallova who led the development of a new headquarters for Meyer Memorial Trust, Oregon’s largest foundation. The project was more than a new building, but a meaningful partnership between the development team of project^, Meyer, and LEVER Architecture to embrace a unique and ambitious approach that prioritizes reinvestment in the historic center of Portland’s Black community, workforce equity, and an unwavering commitment to environmental sustainability and climate mitigation.
Reflecting a deep commitment to diversifying and strengthening the region’s minority and woman-owned development workforce, Anyeley and the project team developed rigorous social and environmental goals to ensure every aspect of Meyer’s new headquarters reflected the Foundation’s values of advancing equity throughout its investments. The result is an important contribution to Portland’s regional economy and multi-sector equity agenda.
