Climate and Economic Justice Screening Tool
The Climate and Economic Justice Screening Tool (CEJST) is a comprehensive geospatial mapping tool created by the Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ). It identifies communities across the United States that are experiencing significant burdens in eight key categories: climate change, energy, health, housing, legacy pollution, transportation, water and wastewater, and workforce development. The tool uses census tracts to highlight areas that are marginalized by underinvestment and overburdened by pollution. By providing detailed maps and data, CEJST helps policymakers, researchers, and community organizations target resources and interventions to these disadvantaged communities. The tool also includes information on Federally Recognized Tribes and Alaska Native Villages, ensuring that these communities are also considered. CEJST aims to promote environmental justice and equitable resource distribution by identifying and addressing the needs of the most vulnerable populations.
